In recent years, John, became a moderately active amateur radio operator. It was second to his NASCAR interests. In the 'radio room', next to all his CB and HAM equipment, was his ACS yearbook, opened to the pages where all the autographs were penned in. Those ACS friends gave him happiness up to his final day on earth, and I'm sure, even beyond.

If you would like to do something in his memory, then nothing would please him more than a contribution to the West Volusia Humane Society Inc., 800 Humane Society Rd, Deland, Florida, 32720 Phone 734-2450. The shelter is only a mile or so, as a crow flies, from our house and on a good morning when the wind is right, he could hear the animals barking, begging for breakfast. He loved all of Gods creatures, from the alligators at our boat dock in Deland, to his final pet "Jake" who was put down about a year ago.

You 'Liberian' ACS folks all have remarkable character.....we old folks thought we were putting you young'uns through hardships......it now looks like we were doing us all a favor.
